WHERE THE WILD CALLS:

PATAGONIA PUMA EXPEDITION & TORRES DEL PAINE ADVENTURE

March 31-April 6, 2026 | 7 Days, 6 Nights

Experience Wild Patagonia

Join me, Brooke, founder of Rewildology, on an extraordinary journey into the heart of Chilean Patagonia, where rugged wilderness meets conservation in action. I’m thrilled to personally host this exclusive expedition that combines rare wildlife encounters with breathtaking adventures in one of Earth’s most spectacular landscapes.

Together, we’ll experience the thrill of tracking elusive pumas in their natural habitat, then enjoy a special dinner with renowned puma expert Nicolás Lagos from Panthera’s Puma Coexistence Program (featured in Where Pumas Roam: The Keepers of Torres del Paine). Learn firsthand about the pioneering work being done to protect these magnificent cats and promote human-wildlife coexistence in the region. Then we’ll venture deep into Torres del Paine National Park to hike legendary trails, kayak pristine glacial waters, and immerse ourselves in the raw beauty of Patagonia.

Operated by BirdsChile, this carefully crafted journey maintains the highest commitment to quality while channeling tourism toward positive conservation and social impact. A portion of your trip fee directly supports Rewildology’s Project Patagonia conservation initiatives with Panthera, creating a meaningful connection between your adventure and the preservation of this remarkable ecosystem.

Limited to just 10 participants, this expedition offers an intimate wilderness experience with comfortable accommodations, including stays at boutique hotels and the innovative Riverside Camp—pioneers in sustainability with their zero-waste philosophy and eco-conscious design.

I’ve designed this expedition for wildlife enthusiasts and adventure travelers seeking authentic experiences that go beyond typical tourism. Together, we’ll watch for soaring condors, graceful guanacos, elusive foxes, and majestic raptors against the backdrop of Patagonia’s iconic granite spires and sweeping landscapes. I hope you’ll join me for this unforgettable journey where adventure meets purpose.

Day 2: Puma Tracking Expedition & Special Conservation Dinner

Today marks an extraordinary opportunity as we spend a full day in the field with expert local trackers searching for the elusive puma. Our experienced guides will share their extensive knowledge of these magnificent big cats, teaching tracking techniques and explaining the fragile ecosystem they inhabit.

We’ll venture into prime puma territory at dawn and dusk—the optimal times for potential sightings—though we emphasize that wildlife encounters are never guaranteed. Throughout the day, our guides will interpret signs of puma presence, from tracks and scat to territorial markings.

In the evening, we’ll enjoy a special dinner with renowned puma expert Nicolás Lagos from Panthera’s Puma Coexistence Program (featured in Where the Wild Calls podcast series). Nicolás will share insights from his groundbreaking work with these apex predators and discuss the critical conservation efforts being implemented to protect them while promoting coexistence with local communities.

Day 3: Lago Sarmiento-Laguna Amarga Hike & Laguna Azul Photo Safari

After breakfast, we’ll journey to Sarmiento Lake for a 3-hour hike connecting to Laguna Amarga. This wildlife-rich trail offers excellent opportunities to spot guanacos and endemic waterbirds, plus a remarkable cultural highlight—6,000-year-old cave paintings that provide insight into Patagonia’s first inhabitants. Throughout our trek, we’ll enjoy spectacular frontal views of the Paine Massif while walking through territory known for its resident puma population.

A scenic transfer will then take us past Estancia Laguna Amarga, where we’ll make stops to photograph grazing guanacos, ñandús on the pampas, and the beautiful Cascada Paine waterfall. At Laguna Azul, we’ll enjoy a gentle 1-hour walk along the striking blue lagoon, with exceptional views of the iconic towers framed by the ever-changing Patagonian sky—perfect for photography enthusiasts. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at Riverside Camp for a presentation on their innovative sustainability initiatives before dinner.

    Day 4: French Valley Exploration

Today we embark on one of Torres del Paine’s classic hikes into the magnificent French Valley. After breakfast, we’ll take a 35-minute catamaran ride across the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoé, offering stunning views of the Cuernos (Horns) of Paine.

From Paine Grande, we’ll begin our challenging 17 km (10.5 mi) round-trip hike into the heart of the French Valley. This 7-8 hour journey takes us through lenga forests, across mountain streams, and up to a spectacular viewpoint where we’re surrounded by a natural amphitheater of granite spires and hanging glaciers. With luck, we’ll hear and see avalanches cascading down distant slopes—a reminder of nature’s raw power in this dynamic landscape.

After taking in the valley’s grandeur, we’ll descend and catch the afternoon catamaran back across Lake Pehoé, returning to Riverside Camp for a well-deserved dinner and rest.

Day 5: Grey Lake Kayaking Adventure

Change pace today as we trade hiking boots for paddles on an unforgettable kayaking expedition on Grey Lake and down Grey River. After proper safety instruction and equipment fitting, we’ll paddle for 4-5 hours amid one of Patagonia’s most incredible landscapes.

Navigate among floating icebergs that have calved from the massive Grey Glacier, part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. The brilliant blue ice formations create a surreal environment as we paddle with views of the glacier and surrounding peaks. This unique perspective of Torres del Paine offers photographic opportunities and a profound connection to the ancient ice that has shaped this landscape.

Our experienced kayak guides ensure safety while sharing insights about the glacier’s retreat and the impact of climate change on this fragile ecosystem. Return to Riverside Camp for your final night in this sustainable wilderness retreat.

Day 6: Base Of The Towers Hike

Today we tackle the park’s most iconic and challenging trail—the hike to the Base of the Towers lookout. This demanding 22 km (13.6 mi) round-trip journey will take 8-10 hours, requiring an early start and good physical conditioning.

The trail begins with a steady climb through the Ascencio Valley before traversing forests, streams, and eventually a steep moraine of loose rock. Your persistence will be rewarded at the top, where the three granite towers that give the park its name rise dramatically above a glacial lake of intense turquoise. This breathtaking viewpoint ranks among South America’s most spectacular natural settings and provides a fitting climax to our Patagonian adventure.

After descending, we’ll transfer to Puerto Natales and check into the comfortable El Establo hotel. This evening is free for you to explore the town and enjoy dinner at one of the excellent local restaurants (not included) while reflecting on the week’s extraordinary experiences.
